Katsina State Government has expressed plans to sanction any of the state officials found guilty of the recruitment scandal in the recent recruitment exercise of 7, 325 teachers in the state.
This was made known by the Commissioner for Women Affairs in Katsina State, Zainab Musa-Musawa, while speaking to newsmen in Katsina after the State Executive Council meeting, on Wednesday.
Musa-Musawa noted that the government has commenced an investigation into the reported irregularities in the recent recruitment of primary and secondary school teachers in the state.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the state government recently recruited over 7, 325 teachers who were successful after sitting for a mandatory recruitment examination.
However, the commissioner noted that the government decided to embark on a thorough investigation after receiving genuine complaints about the conduct of the exercise.
“The Katsina government has inaugurated a special committee to probe the alleged omission of qualified candidates, scoring discrepancies and other issues trailing the recruitment.
“This will enable us to grant empalleged offers to 22 qualified candidates omitted while striking out 152 names from the list who did not sit for the recruitment examination.
“We are also removing 11 persons from the list as they were not qualified initially,” she said.
Musa-Musawa however assured that the government would sanction the errant officials behind the recruitment scandal.
“Gov. Radda will not take it lightly with anybody found guilty of indiscipline or engaging in acts contravening administrative regulations.
