Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi is scheduled to embark on a visit to Russia on Thursday for discussions with Vladimir Putin, as affirmed by the Kremlin.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed the forthcoming Russian-Iranian negotiations on December 7 during a media briefing on Tuesday, responding to inquiries about Raisi’s anticipated visit.
This visit marks a strategic move as both nations seek to fortify their economic and military collaboration amid mounting Western sanctions.
The trip follows previous high-level engagements between the two countries, notably Putin’s visit to Iran in July last year and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s talks in Tehran with regional counterparts in October.
Reports from Iran’s official news agency, Irna, stated that Raisi’s visit to Moscow is in response to an invitation extended by President Putin.
This meeting holds significance against the backdrop of Western allegations of Tehran supporting Russia’s military actions in Ukraine through the supply of drones and armaments.
“Bilateral issues, including economic interactions, as well as discussions about regional and international issues, especially the situation in Gaza, will be high on the agenda of the one-day trip,” it reported
