Former Minister of Education, Obiageli Ezekwesili, has slammed the National Assembly over the planned car gift for its members during a period when the nation is grappling with economic difficulties.
Ezekwesili’s remark follows the outrage and dissatisfaction of Nigerians over the report that each of the 360 members of the National Assembly would receive vehicle worth about N160 million.
Taking to her X handle on Tuesday, Ezekwesili said most of the lawmakers felt they deserved a lavish lifestyle paid for by the poor public treasury of a country they mismanaged because they manipulated their way into public office.
She warned them that “their constant mischief and recklessness have an expiry date and they will hasten it with their antics.”
She said, “Crass behaviour all year round from an irresponsible political class.
“Just because most of you rigged yourselves into public office @nassnigeria , you feel entitled to an indulgent life funded by the miserable public treasury of a country you badly govern, with majority poor people barely eking out a living.
“There’s a sell-by-date for this recurring rascality and make no mistakes, you all will bring that date forward with your shenanigans.
“Incorrigible bunch of law nreakers.”
