Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, has expressed his gratitude to the Federal Government for providing 40 houses for refugee resettlement in the state.
The houses were officially opened and handed over by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu, who visited Zamfara on Thursday, October 5.
Governor Lawal said that the project was a kind gesture that would alleviate the suffering of the people of Zamfara, who have been facing formidable security challenges.
He said that his government and the people of Zamfara remain grateful for the Federal Government’s collaborative efforts.
He also reiterated that the security challenges in Zamfara can only be resolved through effective collaboration with the Federal Government, neighboring states, and all stakeholders in security matters. He said that his government would always do what is correct at the right time to ensure peace and stability in the state.
He said, “Yesterday, I received the Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr Betta Edu, who visited Zamfara for the official opening and handing over 40 fully completed and functional houses as a refugee resettlement city project.
“I appreciated the Federal Government’s collaborative efforts in alleviating the suffering of our people. My Government and the good people of Zamfara State remain grateful for this kind gesture.
“I reiterated that it is a well-known fact that Zamfara State faces formidable security challenges, and these challenges can only be resolved through effective collaboration with the Federal Government, neighboring states, and all stakeholders in security matters.
“We must always do what is correct at the right time.”
