The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Comrade Philip Shaibu, has resumed his official duties at his new office, located at No. 7, Osadebey Avenue in Benin.
According to a report by Daily Trust, a prayer session was held at the office to mark his return, with prayer warriors, friends, family members, and staff in attendance.
It was gathered that Reverend fathers from the Benin Archdiocese led the prayer session.
Shaibu mentioned that these prayer sessions have been a regular practice since he assumed office as deputy governor.
They serve as a way to thank God, seek blessings for the new month, and commit his new office into God’s hands.
This development follows a recent political dispute between Shaibu and Governor Godwin Obaseki regarding the 2024 governorship election. Shaibu sought legal action to prevent his impeachment, which led to his eviction from his previous office. However, on September 21, he publicly apologized to the governor and requested forgiveness.
Responding, Obaseki said “As a person of faith, I am under obligation to accept this apology because as they say, to err is human, to forgive is divine.”
