The 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has stated that a broken system of justice and obvious distrust for the law enforcement agencies, are currently bedevilling Nigeria.
Mr. Obi made this known while congratulating a Nollywood film producer, Editi Effiong, on his new release, “The Black Book,” which according to him, has gained global recognition and became the first Nollywood movie, to claim the number one spot on the Netflix worldwide.
According to the former Anambra State Governor, the movie has touched on very important societal issues, affecting the country.
He, however, urged Nigerians to always resist the temptation of taking laws into their hands, while also advising the government to ensure that every Nigerian is governed and protected by the laws of the land, and also respect the rule of law.
However, he congratulated Effiong for the ingenuity he put into the film while wishing him well in his future endeavours.
“My dear @EditiEffiong, I read with delight the reports of your cinematic masterpiece, “The Black Book” which has gained global popularity and is becoming the first-ever Nollywood film to claim the number one spot on Netflix worldwide.
“I congratulate you for achieving such a great feat which can only be achieved with vision, determination and sacrifice.
“The movie, thankfully, touches on a very important societal issue – a broken system of justice and obvious distrust for the law enforcement agencies, currently bedevilling our country.
“While Nigerians must always resist the urge to take laws into their own hands, the government must ensure that every Nigerian is governed and protected by the laws of the land, and must respect the rule of law.
“I congratulate you once again for the ingenuity you have put into this masterpiece. I wish you well in your future endeavours and urge you to continue to promote the peace, progress and unity of the nation through your works.
“May we all join hands to build the New Nigeria of our dreams. -PO,” he tweeted.
