The Oyo State government has stated that the recently reconstructed Oyo-Iseyin road will be commissioned by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, on Friday, September 15, 2023.
Disclosing this through the official X handle of the state government, retweeted by the Peoples Democratic Party on its official X handle on Thursday, September 14, 2023, the state government noted that the 34.85km road project, will be commissioned by Chief Obasanjo, on Friday, September 15, 2023.
According to the Oyo government, the road which belongs to the federal government was awarded by the Oyo state government, to Messrs Kopek Construction Limited in June 2021, after approval had been given by the federal government to go ahead, while the construction work commenced at the end of July 2021, but was not officially flagged off, until December 2021.
The statement noted that the road which connects Oyo, Oke-Ogun, and also passes through the Fashola Agribusiness Industrial Hub, constructed by the Oyo government, has improved the economic fortune of the communities around the axis, while also reducing stresses of the travelers through a reduced number of hours to travel on the road.
However, Chief Obasanjo will be commissioning the completed Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Iseyin Campus, which houses the College of Agricultural Sciences and Renewable Natural Resources, on the same day, on the 15th of September, 2023.
