The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has expressed hope that the All Progressives Congress, would soon bounce back and recover its lost position in the state.
Senator Jibrin stated this while receiving the local government vice chairmen under the umbrella of the Association of Local Government Vice Chairmen, Kano State chapter, in his office at the National Assembly complex.
During the visit, Senator Barau who said with prayers and unity, the outcome of the tribunal will be favourable to the APC, appeal to the stakeholders in the party, to remain focused and united, noting that the recovery will soon take place.
APC candidate, Abdullahi Gawuna, had lost to the candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, Abba Kabir Yusuf, during the last governorship election, in the state.
Consequently, APC is challenging the declaration of Abba Yusuf of the NNPP, in the election conducted on March 18, 2023, at the Election Petition Tribunal.
‘’We are praying and hopeful that the outcome of the tribunal will be favourable to us. Everything is in God’s hands.
“Let us be united and work together. By God’s grace, it’s only a matter of time, we will bounce back in Kano State.
‘’As it is now, we are in opposition, and as such, there are a lot of expectations from us. We should be united and work together in the interest of our party,’’ he said.
The lawmaker who applauded the local government vice chairmen for their visit, expressed his readiness, to continue working with them, to improve the standard of living of the people at the grassroots.
‘’The local government is very essential. We will continue to work with you to address the challenges facing our people. We are proud of you. Let us continue to work together,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the association, Alhaji Yakubu Musa Naira while speaking, disclosed that they were at the National Assembly to congratulate Senator Barau on his emergence as the Deputy President of the Senate.
