A former Federal lawmaker represented Kaduna Central Senatorial District at the red chamber, Senator Shehu Sani on Tuesday, took a swipe at the immediate former governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, over his unconfirmed ministerial appointment by the Senate.
Senator Sani who berated the former governor, while reacting to the development through a post on his Twitter handle on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, described him as”the Imp who was intoxicated with power.”
The former Senator who allegedly described the ex-governor as a religious extremist, claimed that such people should not be given a place at the seat of power.
Mallam El-Rufai and 47 other prominent Nigerians were nominated as ministers hopeful by President Bola Tinubu, to fill various ministries in the country.
However, forty-five out of the forty-eight ministerial nominees were confirmed on Monday, after screening all of them based on their lists sent to the Senate.
Speaking after the confirmation of the 45 nominees on Monday, the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio revealed that nominees and the remaining two unconfirmed nominees were yet to be cleared by security checks.
“El-Rufai and two others have not been cleared by security checks,” Akpabio said.
Reacting to the development on Tuesday, Senator Sani wrote: “The Unconfirmed Ministerial nominee; The Imp who was intoxicated with power, and who arrogantly played God is now at the mercy of those wielding power.
“A religious extremist with a fanatical political agenda should have no place in the seat of power if that nation desires peace.”
