An ally to President Buhari, AbdulMajid Dan Bilki Kwanmada, who stated this during a chat with the newsmen at the NUJ secretariat in Kano, said the South-South had no basis for criticizing the decision because they were not part of the forces that form the new government.
According to Daily Post, Kwanmada claimed that the Northwestern part of the country deserves the 10th senate presidency, and not the South-South, as some people claim.
According to him, they were against the Muslim-Muslim ticket, so they did not work for the party, noting that they forgot that the president, Senate president, and his deputy, were all Christians, during Jonathan’s administration.
According to daily posts, he clarified that it was time for the north and time for Barau Jibrin to be the senate president.
“They didn’t work for us, they were against the Muslim-Muslim ticket. They didn’t consider it during Jonathan when the president, Senate President, and his deputy were all Christians. So now it is time for the North, even in the North, it is time for Barau Jibrin to be the Senate president. This is our choice and is what we are calling for,” he said.
However, he warned the National Chairman of the Party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, over the idea of zoning, noting that northerners would not support it and it won’t yield good consequences for the party.
