Independent National Electoral Commission has blacklisted not fewer than 100 ad hoc staff in Akwa Ibom State over alleged involvement in election malpractices.
The resident commissioner in the state Dr. Cyril Omorogbe made this known to the press in Uyo, the state capital on Thursday.
NAN reported that the affected ad hoc staff were found culpable of electoral malpractices during the Presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.
According to Dr. Omorogbe, ”we blacklisted them, we will not use them during the Governorship and House of Assembly elections on Saturday,”
However, he said that the commission has started distributing sensitive materials to local government areas ahead of Saturday’s elections.
He acknowledged complaints raised during the presidential and national assembly elections, reiterating that such will not recur as INEC has “made adequate preparations to ensure that materials and personnel do not arrive late at polling units.”
”I can assure you that the challenges we faced during the last elections won’t be repeated ,” he added.
