The Governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Delta State, Deacon Kennedy Pela, has urged the people of the state to vote for him.
During his address, he promised the Delta people that if voted governor of the state, he would ensure Delta workers are paid a monthly living wage of N100, 000, while arrears of pensions would be paid promptly.
Pela said this on Tuesday night, while speaking at a town hall meeting in Asaba.
According to him, PDP had brought Delta backwards hundred folds, despite huge sums of money received over their 24 years reign in the state.
The Guardian reported that Pela was optimistic that there are opportunities for the LP to win the governorship and House of Assembly elections, as Nigeria’s political space had recently witnessed unprecedented revolution with the listing of LP in the ballot for the 2023 general election.
He also applauded the impressive outing the party had in the February 25 election in the state and urged party supporters to repeat the feat in the forthcoming election.
Also at the Town Hall meeting, the state Chairman of the party, Chief Tony Ezeagwu, used the opportunity to debunk claims that the party leadership had been bought over by political opponents.
The deputy governorship candidate, Prof. Julie Umukoro, who was at the event as well, promised women and youths better deals if given the mandate.
