Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the president, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has charged all security agencies that would be involved in the elections to remain apolitical.
According to Channels, the Buhari gave the charge on Wednesday at the commissioning of the Defence Intelligence Agency Estate in Idu-Karmo in Abuja.
Buhari encouraged the agencies to handle the distribution and supervision of sensitive information as well as other logistics in a professional manner and in accordance with SOPs.
Speaking on the recently purchased DIA Estate, the President claimed that the appropriate setting will increase staff productivity and coordination given the growing number of employees taking on new challenges and duties.
President Buhari went on to say that the structure exemplifies the administration’s objective for providing shelter to improve performance as well as comfort for workers, families, and communities.
“The significance of today’s occasion can be better understood by making the connection between shelter and productivity. This underpins the administration’s vision for the provision of shelter to improve performance as well as comfort for workers, families and communities.
“This commissioning ceremony further avails another opportunity to reaffirm my confidence in the competence, commitment and achievements of the Defence Intelligence Agency’s giant strides achieved across the nation.
“I am confident that these new premises will yield enormous shelter dividends to the Defence Intelligence Agency staff, their families and to the host locality.
“The acquisition of this accommodation is a great leap forward, but the envisaged benefits would be aborted without diligent maintenance,” he said.
