Special Counsel to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Aloy Ejimakor, on Tuesday, said President Muhammadu Buhari owes his client three outstanding debts
According to Daily Post, Ejimakor said that Kanu is owed the international ruling from 2018, the UN opinion, and the ruling from the Federal High Court.
He made this comment in reference to a statement made by a former associate and justice of the US Supreme Court, Louis Brandeis.
Ejimakor quotes Brandeis as saying that once the government starts breaking the law, everyone becomes their own law.
He tweeted: “Buhari has 3 outstanding debts to #MNK & to freedom – the 2018 international Decision that remains confidential, the UN Opinion & the Federal High Court Judgment
“If the government becomes the lawbreaker, it invites every man to become a law unto himself” – Louis Brandeis.”
Kanu has been imprisoned since June 20, 2021, when he was apprehended in Kenya and subjected to extraordinary rendition.
Kanu has been granted bail by Nigerian courts since his arrest, but the government has refused to release him.
The IPOB leader is being held by the Department of State Services.
