United States President Donald Trump will commemorate his first 100 days back in office with a rally in Michigan next week, marking his first campaign-style event since returning to the White House earlier in 2025.
According to the White House press secretary, Trump is scheduled to visit Macomb County on Tuesday. This region, located just north of Detroit, is a significant hub for the U.S. auto industry.
“President Trump is excited to return to the great state of Michigan next Tuesday, where he will rally in Macomb County to celebrate the FIRST 100 DAYS!” Karoline Leavitt announced on social media Wednesday.
The rally is set for the eve of Trump’s 100th day in office, a symbolic benchmark for evaluating a president’s early progress on promises made during the campaign.
Michigan, a pivotal swing state, played a key role in Trump’s 2024 return to power after flipping it from blue to red.
Since beginning his second term, Trump has made few public trips aside from personal weekend travels.
His only other official domestic tour came during his first week back in office, when he visited areas recovering from disasters in North Carolina and California, and hosted an event in Las Vegas to push for removing taxes on tipped income.
Later this week, Trump will head abroad for the first time this term, attending the funeral of Pope Francis in Rome.
Ahead of Canada’s election, Trump reiterated his belief that the United States holds more leverage in the bilateral relationship, saying, “Canada needs the US more than the US needs it.”
Trump’s upcoming visit to Michigan follows recent communications with Democratic Governor Gretchen Whitmer, once a vocal opponent, who now signals a willingness to cooperate with the president in his second term.
One shared interest between the two is the Selfridge Air National Guard Base in Macomb County.
The future of the base has become a concern due to the planned retirement of the A-10 aircraft currently stationed there. Trump is expected to touch on the base’s fate during his Michigan stop.
Speaking during the signing of an executive order in the Oval Office on April 9, an event Whitmer attended, Trump mentioned Selfridge and said, “I think we’re going to be successful, Governor. I think we’ll be very successful there.”
Whitmer, whom Trump commended during his remarks, later revealed that her appearance in the Oval Office was unplanned.

When asked on Wednesday whether Governor Whitmer would join Trump at the Michigan rally, her spokesperson replied that there was “nothing to share at this time.”
Michigan officials, including Whitmer, have long lobbied for a new fighter mission to replace the aging A-10 fleet at Selfridge.
In a 2023 letter to the Air Force Secretary, sent during the Biden administration, Whitmer reaffirmed her position, “I repeat and reiterate what I stated in November and many times before over the past year: a fighter mission at Selfridge to recapitalize the A10s is the right path forward for the State of Michigan, the Air Force, and the nation.”
