Renowned Nigerian music legend, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba or 2Face Idibia, has been appointed as the Technical Adviser on Entertainment and Community Outreach by the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia.
The announcement was made during a meeting between Governor Alia and the iconic singer, where the governor praised 2Baba’s longstanding commitment to his home state and the Nigerian entertainment industry.
“Once you say 2Face, people start dancing—even without a song. So we are happy you are here,” Governor Alia remarked during the meeting.
“On behalf of the Benue State Government and our very good people, we want to give you some more responsibilities, in addition to what you’ve already been doing, because you can do even more.”
The governor further stated, “You can help us chart the way forward to improve other people’s lives and to gain from your wisdom and advice as well. So I am pleased to announce that we will make you a Technical Adviser to the Governor on Entertainment and Community Outreach.”
Governor Alia expressed confidence that 2Baba’s extensive experience in the creative sector would serve as a source of inspiration for young people in Benue and contribute meaningfully to community development initiatives across the state.
The appointment comes at a time when 2Baba has been in the spotlight for developments in his personal life. In late January, the singer confirmed his separation from his estranged wife, Nollywood actress Annie Idibia, ending a marriage that had long drawn public attention.
Just days after the announcement, 2Baba publicly acknowledged his relationship with Natasha Osawaru, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly. By February, he had proposed to Osawaru, making it clear that their relationship was not a consequence of his separation from Annie.
Despite the media frenzy surrounding his private affairs, 2Baba remains a highly respected figure in the Nigerian entertainment landscape. Beyond his hit songs and stage presence, he is also celebrated for his advocacy work and philanthropic efforts, particularly those aimed at youth empowerment and peace-building across the country.
