A multiple-vehicle crash occurred early Friday morning on Kara Bridge, heading towards OPIC along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, resulting in heavy traffic congestion that extended all the way back to the Otedola Bridge area.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority via its official X handle @followlastma, confirmed the incident in a post at 7:40 a.m., noting that emergency services, including LASTMA officers, responded promptly to the scene.
“We recorded an accident on Kara bridge inward Opic on Lagos Ibadan Express Way with multiple vehicles.
“LASTMA personnel and other Emergency responders have swung into action to rescue the victims and also clear the affected vehicles,” the agency stated.
Though the full extent of the crash wasn’t immediately disclosed, the impact was substantial enough to disrupt traffic flow severely, leading to prolonged delays for commuters heading into Lagos.
“The incident has dragged traffic backwards Otedola bridge,” LASTMA added.
LASTMA urged motorists plying the affected route to remain calm and cooperate with officials managing the situation.
“Patience is required from the road users,” it said.
