The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), has refuted social media reports alleging the approval of a mass recruitment exercise involving 10,000 civil service jobs.
The rebuttal was issued in a statement on Thursday from Port Harcourt by Dr. Inyingi Brown, the acting Head of the Rivers State Civil Service, who labeled the trending information as completely false and misleading. She cautioned the public to dismiss the claim.
The debunked message had falsely indicated that the administrator had authorized a large-scale employment drive and that an online application portal would be activated by midnight on Sunday, April 13, 2025.
It also falsely credited the statement to the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Worika.
“We wish to categorically inform the people of Rivers State and the general public to ignore the fake announcement,” the official statement read.
Dr. Brown emphasized that credible updates regarding job openings would be released only by the appropriate agencies.
“Appropriate information will be released by the Rivers State Civil Service Commission when it falls due,” she added.
She further warned that all authentic communications about recruitment would originate from designated state bodies, not unverified online sources.
