Wolves staged a late comeback to defeat Ipswich 2-1 at Portman Road, leaving the home side 12 points adrift of safety with only seven games remaining in the season.
The turning point came with the introduction of Pablo Sarabia, who made an immediate impact.
The Spaniard netted his first goal in nearly five months just seven minutes after coming on, before providing the assist for Jorgen Strand Larsen’s decisive strike late in the match.
Ipswich had taken the lead in the 16th minute through Liam Delap, who scored his 12th league goal of the campaign.
Delap reacted quickest to Dara O’Shea’s knockdown, poking the ball past Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa to give the hosts an early advantage.
However, the visitors responded with intent. Sarabia fired in a composed equaliser from just inside the area, and later teed up Strand Larsen, who continued his impressive form by grabbing his fourth goal in three matches.
The defeat leaves Ipswich in deep relegation trouble, with daunting fixtures against Chelsea, Arsenal, and Newcastle still to come.
Their Premier League survival hopes are now hanging by a thread in their first season back in the top flight.
Wolves’ victory also puts pressure on Southampton, whose drop to the Championship will be confirmed if they lose to Tottenham on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Wolves have edged closer to the European spots, now just two points behind Spurs ahead of their head-to-head clash next week.
