The North Central chapter of the All Progressives Congress Elders Forum has reaffirmed its support for Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the former governor of Kano State, as the party’s National Chairman.
This endorsement came during a congratulatory visit to the APC national secretariat in Abuja on Monday, led by former Senate President Ameh Ebute.
The elders congratulated Ganduje on his recent High Court victory, which dismissed a suit seeking his removal as chairman. The suit, filed by the North Central APC Forum, alleged that Ganduje’s chairmanship breached the party’s constitution and the consensus reached at the 2022 National Convention.
Ebute expressed the elders’ confidence in Ganduje’s leadership, saying, “We feel we should be the first to come and congratulate you on your winning the Edo governorship election for the party; for adding Edo to states controlled by the APC. We have no doubt in your ability to lead this party to a higher level.”
He added, “We are happy that the suit seeking your sack as national chairman was struck out. We are solidly behind you and we shall continue to support you to take the party to the next level. With these achievements, we believe 2027 will be a walk over.”
Former presidential aspirant Cesnabmilhilo Oken’oval echoed Ebute’s sentiments, stating, “We are very happy with your leadership and we will continue to support you. 2027 election will be the greatest shock, we will carry it clear and clean.”
Ganduje, responding to his High Court victory, said, “There is no doubt that the claim was baseless and was treated by the court as such. We don’t fear such baseless litigations.”
On the Edo election outcome, he noted, “the election of Saturday is an indication that our efforts are yielding results. Fighting an incumbent government is not easy.”
This development comes on the heels of the APC’s victory in the Edo governorship election, where Senator Monday Okpebholo emerged victorious.
However, the PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo, has alleged that his mandate was stolen.
The APC’s victory in Edo has bolstered Ganduje’s position as National Chairman, with the party eyeing a successful 2027 election.
