The National Leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, pledged on Friday to fortify the party’s state chapters in preparation for local government elections and the 2027 general elections.
During his visit to the NNPP Secretariat in Osogbo, Osun State, Kwankwaso emphasized the importance of enhancing the party’s structure to better compete against other political entities.
He expressed confidence in the party’s future stating that NNPP is committed to solidifying its influence across Nigeria, according to Nigerian Tribune.
Kwankwaso acknowledged the challenges ahead but noted that the party is ready to tackle them.
He criticized past leaders for using poverty as a political tool and reaffirmed NNPP’s commitment to uplifting the masses.
He mentioned ongoing efforts to mobilize citizens and equip state secretariats, including providing vehicles for easier transportation.
According to him, “Various reports from each state, especially, Osun, are giving me joy as the national leader. We are not unaware of the challenges ahead of us towards 2027 but we are prepared.
“Nigerians have so far realised that various leaders we have been having are intentionally using poverty to improvise citizens to cajole them again in 2027 with crumbs.
“NNPP, as a party, have good intentions for the masses. We have started mobilising people all over. We are equipping our state secretariats and we are also providing them with vehicles to ease their movement.”
Represented by a three-member committee—Dr. Rahila Aliyu Mukhtar, Dr. Muhammad S. Khalil, and Alhaji Abdusalam Abdulateef—Kwankwaso stressed the need for vibrant state chapters to ensure effective administration and maintain the party’s status as a major opposition force in Nigeria.
Osun State NNPP Chairman Dr. Tosin Odeyemi praised Kwankwaso’s leadership and highlighted the positive impact he has had on the party.
He thanked the visiting committee, particularly Dr. Mukhtar, for their contributions and pledged to continue efforts to make NNPP appealing to the electorate.
