The Independent National Electoral Commission assures that the 2023 general elections will not be postponed on account of logistic challenges.
The National Commissioner, INEC, Festus Okoye, declared this on Sunday during a session on Channels TV.
He said, “As of today, we have the full complement of the things we need to execute that election.
“Our commitment is to the people of this country. We are committed to the conduct of free, fair, transparent and inclusive elections, and we are working hard and assiduously to make sure that we give Nigerians the best election ever. That is our commitment to the people of this country and we are going to fail.
“We have not complained to the national assembly and we have not complained to the Nigerian people that we are not prepared.
“The chairman of the commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has promised the people of this country that under his watch, no election will be postponed or rescheduled on account of logistics or logistics challenges, and we are committed to that.
“We believe that those who are engaged in these attacks should leave the commission alone to prepare for the conduct of the 2023 general election because if these attacks continue up till next year, it’s going to pose a grave danger to electoral business and electoral continuity and the commission does not want to get into a situation where we are going to get into constitutional crisis because of the conduct of our election.”
