The President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has rejected a demand by the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, to refund the payment of the newly commissioned flyover project in the state.
Premium Politics reported that Wike had invited Tinubu to the state for the commissioning of 12 flyovers in Port Harcourt.
Wike had in his speech, during the event, appealed to the incoming president, to refund the cost of the projects to the purse of the state government, after his swearing-in, on May 29, 2023.
According to the governor, a letter requesting the cost refund has been prepared for the incoming administration of the Governor-elect, Siminialaye Fubura, and will be signed, as soon as he resumes office, urging Tinubu for approval.
However, in his response to the request, Tinubu said he does not owe the state any debt concerning the project, noting that the project was executed for the benefit of the residents.
“The 12 flyovers and the demands you made for a refund, I owe you nothing, it’s your road.
“You can’t chuckle at me and make a demand. You are the one using the road. I commend your effort. You have to lobby me,” Tinubu said.
