The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat on Monday, arrived at the venue of the Lagos Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, at the Rosaline Omotoso Court house in Ikeja, amid heavy security presence.
Hamzat arrived at the tribunal around 9.20 a.m., in the company of some aides, alongside the security details who were armed to the tooth.
The Lagos tribunal is set to deliver judgment in the petition filed by the Labour Party Governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and that of the Peoples Democratic Party, AbdulAzeez Olajide Adediran, a.k.a Jandor, who are both challenging the victory of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Hamzat, at the March 18 governorship election in the state.
However, the three-man panel of Justices handling the case, include Justice Arum Igyen Ashom, Justice Mikhail Abdullahi, and Justice I.P. Braimoh.
Reports revealed that Security has been beefed up around the court where members of the tribunal are to deliver their judgment.
According to reports, as early as 7.00 a.m., a large contingent of policemen in combat gear were seen at the roundabout near Lagos University Teaching Hospital Ikeja to guarantee security around the area.
A bomb disposal vehicle and a larger contingent of policemen were also sited around the premises, where judgment is to be delivered.
In addition, the police and the security personnel of the Ikeja High Court screened all the people coming into the premises.
However, some of the political supporters were being stopped from accessing the court premises, as a measure to guarantee security.
