The Transmission Company of Nigeria has restored electricity supply to Bayelsa and some areas in Rivers State following the successful repair of a vandalised transmission line.
This was made known in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs. Ndidi Mbah.
She revealed that the 132kV Owerri–Ahoada transmission line was reconnected to the national grid on April 11 at approximately 6 p.m.
“Power supply has been restored to Bayelsa and parts of Rivers State through the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company,” Mbah stated. “This was possible after we completed the reconstruction of the section where four transmission towers were destroyed by vandals.”
The affected towers—numbered 71 to 74—were damaged on March 11, plunging the areas into weeks of power outages.
Mbah assured Nigerians of the company’s commitment to providing stable electricity across the country.
She also called on local communities to support efforts in safeguarding power infrastructure.
“We urge communities to remain vigilant and assist in protecting these critical installations from further attacks,” she said.
The restoration is expected to bring relief to residents and businesses in the affected areas who have endured prolonged blackouts.
