The Peoples Democratic Party has called on the Inspector General of Police to investigate claims of security personnel compromise during the recent governorship election in Ondo State.
In a statement, the South-West zonal publicity secretary of the party, Chief Sanya Atofarati, explained that the decision was made after a review of the events surrounding the election.
The PDP raised concerns over the integrity of the election process, particularly regarding the involvement of security forces, according to Independent.
Additionally, the party urged President Bola Tinubu to address what it described as threats by Abdullahi Ganduje, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress, to interfere with the electoral process in Ekiti, Osun, and Oyo states.
The PDP emphasized that Ganduje had no moral grounds to make such statements and urged its members in the South-West to remain calm and law-abiding in the face of intimidation. The party reiterated its commitment to pursuing justice through legal means and vowed to continue working with its legal team.
“We affirm, without equivocation, that Ganduje lacks justification to speak on moral issues.
“We therefore appealed to our teaming members in the SouthWest to remain calm and law-abiding even in the face of the current intimidation. As a party established by law, we shall continue to work with our legal team while we seek justice in due course.” The statement reads.
