Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission has issued Certificates of Return to newly elected chairmen from the October 19 council election.
This marks the sixth election conducted by KAD-SIECOM since its establishment in 2000, notable for being the first time elected council members will hand over to an elected council.
KAD-SIECOM Chairman, Hajiya Hajara Mohammed, congratulated the winners, emphasizing their responsibility to meet electorate expectations, according to Daily Post.
She praised the Commission’s staff for their dedication and professionalism.
The chairman-elect of Soba Local Government Area, Muhammad Lawal Shehu, pledged to implement campaign manifestos, recognizing the trust placed in them by the people.
The certificates follow local government elections held across Kaduna State, conducted according to the Kaduna State Electoral Law 2024. This milestone solidifies the democratic process, ensuring a smooth transition to newly elected leaders.
The elected chairmen are now set to take office, marking a significant step in Kaduna State’s local government administration.
She noted that certificates of return are being issued to those who won the just concluded 2024 Local Government Election, explaining that “Elections have been contested across the state in accordance with the Kaduna State Electoral Law 2024.
“Let me take this opportunity to congratulate those who emerged as winners and remind them that the electorate decided through polls to give them the mandate to lead, and it is paramount that they live up to expectations.”
