The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has said he believed in a truly independent National Assembly, where members chose their leaders without executive interference.
Buhari stated that it was why he refrained from meddling in the choice of leaders elected by the National Assembly in 2015.
He stated this after he inaugurated the permanent site of the National Institute For Legislative and Democratic Studies in Abuja, on Thursday, according to a report by Arise TV.
The President, during his address, described the outgoing 9th national assembly as the most productive federal legislature in recent times.
Meanwhile, at another event, Buhari boasted that he was leaving behind the foundation of free and fair election, which produced the President-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
