The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has said the renovated National Assembly Complex will be commissioned by President Bola Tinubu in December 2023.
He stated this, when he received the Chairman and members of the governing board of National, Assembly Service Commission in Abuja, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.
Akpabio explained that beside the general renovation work, part of the edifices being put in place, is the permanent office complex of the National Assembly Service Commission and a Library Complex.
However, the Senate President did not state the amount already released to the contractors.
The 9th National Assembly, appropriated N30 billion to the Federal Capital Territory Administration for execution of the project out of which about N9billion naira was released.
Earlier, The NASC Chairman, Ahmed Kadi Amshi told the Senate President and other principal officers that end of September this year, has been fixed as deadline for documentation of aides of the 469 federal lawmakers.
He noted that documentation of Aides to the lawmakers, was very important for payment of entitled emoluments to them.
Mr Amshi added that within the last three years, the commission under his leadership, has promoted a total of 2, 775 staff, converted about 447 others from one cadre to the other and set code of ethics for ethical conducts of staff at all times.
