The Independent National Electoral Commission has rolled out important guidelines and laid emphasis on “No PVC, no voting.”
This guideline was first laid out on February 23, at INEC’s first briefing on its preparedness for the 2023 General Election held at ICC, Abuja.
The emphasis on the guidelines as presented by the Chairman of the commission, Prof Mahood Yakubu was made on INEC’s verified Twitter page.
The tweet with attached photos of the meeting reads, ” At the 1st briefing on INEC’s preparedness for the 2023 General Election held at ICC, Abuja on 23rd Feb, Prof Mahood Yakubu said:
BVAS is mandatory
No PVC, no voting
Ban on use of mobile phones in voting cubicles still in place
INEC is committed to credible polls”
Meanwhile, the emphasis caused mixed reactions as some tweeps think the second guideline of “No PVC, no voting” contradicted the commission’s initial guidelines for people who cannot access their PVCs to print out and present at polling units.
Attaching the information earlier disseminated by INEC about printing out, @enob_stephen said, “This info is definitely invalid then, after so many voters card went missing, now we cannot use print out… nowam!!”
Responding to the tweet, @Igbo Demon appealed saying, “We plead with you guys not to rig this election like una use to do, make una just do this one for us”
“I really wanted to vote. I have registered since 2021 and now after escalating and escalating, I have no PVC. Why put me in this situation? Why take away my right to vote?” @_Nwendu lamented.
Responding to INEC’s video that emphasised on “no PVC, no voting,” @CNgamnori said, “You guys didn’t issue PVC to a lot of people even when their details are found in your saver !!!”
Out of curiosity, @bethelOlujobi responding to the video asked, “@inecnigeria, Does this invalidate the information spreading around that an individual who couldn’t collect their PVC can still vote with their VIN?”
