The Kogi State Government has denied the rumour that the administration of Yahaya Bello is planning to arrest the candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Leke Abejide, ahead of the coming governorship election in the state.
This was stated by the Commissioner for Information in the state, Kingsley Fanwo, while speaking on a Channels Television programme on Monday.
Fanwo stated that there is no plan to arrest the governorship candidate, noting that nobody knows why he is making a false alarm.
According to him, the administration of Governor Bello is ready to arrest Abejide or any other governorship candidate in the state.
It would be recalled that Justice Ahmed Ramat Mohammed of the Federal High Court in Abuja, ordered the Director General, Department of State Services, and the Inspector General of Police, to give maximum protection to the ADC candidate, following his petition to the court.
The court also barred the DSS, the Police and the Kogi governor, Yayaha Bello from inviting, arresting, detaining, or threatening the life and properties of Abejide pending the hearing and judgment on the suit instituted against them by the ADC candidate.
“No one is trying to arrest any of the candidates running for the governorship election.
“No one is after him (Leke Abejide, ADC governorship candidate).
“We don’t know why he’s running helter-skelter that he should not be arrested,” Fanwo said.
