Super Eagles star, Alex Iwobi, found the net as Fulham dealt a major blow to Liverpool’s Premier League title hopes, taking full advantage of a chaotic first-half showing to claim a 3-2 triumph at Craven Cottage, marking only Arne Slot’s second league loss of the season.
With Arsenal dropping points against Everton earlier, Liverpool had a golden chance to extend their lead at the top to 14 points.
However, their 25-match unbeaten streak came to a crashing end following a chaotic 14-minute spell after Alexis Mac Allister had opened the scoring with a stunning strike from distance.
Fulham’s comeback was sparked by Ryan Sessegnon, who smashed in the equalizer after a deflected cross fell invitingly to him off the thigh of stand-in right-back Curtis Jones.
Things went from bad to worse for the visitors when Andrew Robertson’s poor pass handed possession straight to the hosts, allowing Alex Iwobi to find the net via a deflection past Caoimhin Kelleher.
Still rattled, Liverpool were undone again before the break—Rodrigo Muniz produced a moment of brilliance to beat Virgil van Dijk and calmly slot past Kelleher, putting Fulham 3-1 up and firmly in control.
This marked the first time Liverpool had conceded three goals in the first half of a Premier League match since their 7-2 drubbing by Aston Villa in October 2020.
Although they improved after the interval, with Luis Diaz pulling one back from a Conor Bradley assist, they couldn’t complete the comeback.
The Reds pushed for an equalizer—Mohamed Salah sent a wild effort over from Diaz’s cross, and Harvey Elliott struck the woodwork—but Fulham held firm and fully earned their win.
The result lifts Fulham to eighth place, keeping their European dreams alive, while Liverpool stay comfortably ahead of Arsenal by 11 points, though they missed a vital chance to tighten their grip on the title race.
