In a heartfelt message shared on her social media platform, Nollywood actress Eniola Badmus has advocated for unity and mutual respect, seemingly addressing her ongoing conflict with fellow actress Laide Bakare.
“Life has a way of teaching us that true strength lies not in conflict, but in unity,” Badmus wrote. “Though we may have walked different paths and faced moments of tension, I believe it’s time to let love lead.”
Both actresses had caused a stir on social media after a video showed Laide Bakare confronting her colleague, Eniola Badmus, at a movie premiere.
Both actresses attended the premiere of the Eniola Ajao movie titled “Owambe Thieves”, which took place on Sunday, at Circle Mall in Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria.
In the video which went viral on Monday, the two women were seen arguing loudly.
Bakare asked Eniola Badmus if she was mentally okay, which made Eniola give her a sharp look before walking away.
The dispute between the two actresses has been public and protracted. In May 2022, tensions escalated when Laide Bakare accused Eniola Badmus of jealousy after Badmus commented on Bakare’s acquisition of two new luxury cars. Bakare responded by labeling Badmus the “president of beefers,” suggesting that Badmus’s comment was driven by envy. Badmus, in turn, clarified that her comment was made in jest and expressed surprise at Bakare’s reaction, noting their long-standing friendship dating back to their university days.
The feud reignited in March 2024 when Badmus mocked Bakare’s outfit at a book launch, comparing it to that of “Pastor Ajidara,” a reference that did not sit well with Bakare. In response, Bakare accused Badmus of consistently failing to celebrate her achievements and instead focusing on her missteps. She expressed disappointment, especially given their shared history and friendship.
Badmus’s recent message appears to be a call for reconciliation. “There is no need for jealousy when we can all succeed. Your success does not diminish mine, just as mine does not take away from yours. Let us continue to collaborate, to lift each other, and to build something greater than what we could unity and a future brighter than any victory we’ve pursued alone,” she stated.
She further emphasized the importance of peace and understanding: “Let us avoid conflict, not because we are weak, but because we are wise. Peace is the path to progress, and love is the light that shows us the way.”
Concluding her message, Badmus expressed hope for a more harmonious future, “Here’s to better days, guided by understanding, shared goals, and mutual respect.”
