The Edo State House of Assembly has officially recalled two lawmakers, Donald Okogbe (PDP-Akoko-Edo II) and Adeh Isibor (APC-Esan North-East I) after a five-month suspension.
The duo was suspended on May 6, 2024, alongside Bright Iyamu, over allegations of plotting to impeach the Speaker and other principal officers.
Bright Iyamu was recalled in June after showing remorse, according to Speaker Blessing Agbebaku.
During Wednesday’s plenary session in Benin, Speaker Agbebaku announced the recall of Okogbe and Isibor, marking the end of their suspension.
“We are glad to have them back,” Agbebaku said, praising the assembly members for their dedication to passing important bills and resolutions.
In his speech, Agbebaku also congratulated the state governor-elect, Monday Okpebholo, on his victory in the recent governorship election.
“We believe he will serve all Edo people, not just the All Progressives Congress,” Agbebaku noted, hoping the governor-elect would not be misled by sycophants.
The assembly approved a 57-day calendar for the second quarter of its second session, setting the legislative agenda for the coming months. This development brings an end to the suspension saga that began in May.
