The All Progressives Congress in Delta State has called on the state government to ensure credible local government council elections in July.
Chief Ayiri Emami, along with other party leaders, made this appeal while distributing campaign T-shirts and materials to party members in Warri South local government area. They expressed confidence that the party would secure victories in Warri South, Warri South West, and Warri North if the elections are conducted transparently.
Ayiri urged party members to intensify their campaign efforts ahead of the July election. He stated, “All our candidates in Warri (Warri South, Warri South West, and Warri North) must go out to campaign. The fear is that the state government may want to write results. This is why we are yearning for local government autonomy. Everything must go well.”
Mr. Mario Owumi, the party chairman in Warri South local government, also spoke, calling for a fair election process. He highlighted that the APC had won in the local government in the House of Assembly and Delta South senatorial election last year. He emphasized the importance of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission conducting a transparent election. “We want a free election. The governor should give a level playing ground. We all saw the results in the last election in the House of Assembly and the Senate, the APC won. Our candidate is the best person for the job.”
Prince Francis Yonwuren, the chairmanship candidate for the APC in Warri South local government area, expressed optimism about their chances of winning. He promised to lead a transparent administration if elected. “I am very prepared for the election. I will not disappoint the people when elected. I will run a transparent government.”
